Hi,

I am deploying a simple service on JBoss4.0.3SP1. Service itself (wothout handlers) work excellent. However, when I add simple handler:

in my webservice.xml file

I get this error.

06:32:13,234 INFO [AxisServlet] org.jboss.axis.ConfigurationException: org.jbos
s.webservice.server.ServiceException: Cannot initialize webservice; nested excep
tion is:
javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: Cannot initialize handler chain
AxisFault
faultCode: {http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server.generalException
faultSubcode:
faultString: Cannot initialize webservice; nested exception is:
javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: Cannot initialize handler chain
faultActor:
faultNode:
faultDetail:

Any idea how I can sort it out ?

Many thanks for you help

Hello,
Can you post the full exception stack trace please from the log? Does it say classcastException at one point?

Here are a few ideas:
1. First can you tell me how your endpoint class uses the handler or does it use it at all?
2. Can you tell me wether you have several archives deployed with the same web service name? (I say that because I had the same problem as you and realized that I had two wars with the same ws name).
Please keep me posted about the two questions above.
Julien.

Well,

My service endpoint is not using handler at all in its code, if you mean that. The only reference to handler on server side are class and in webservice.xml where I tryed to register this handler refereing to the handler class. I think this is how handler works. Thay are similar to filters in servlet technology (you just register it in web.xml file).

I have installed new instance of JBoss and thisi service is the only thing I deployed.

Have you got any other idea ?

Cheers

Johny, is this error during deployment, or runtime?

Hi,

This error occurs during runtime. Have you got any idea ?

Cheers
