Asynchronous and Synchronous... Synchronization?

Hi ranchers...

I am a student that has been given a new project / assignment, and I think I could use a hint. On one part that I thought about and have decided will take some extra effort...

I will try to give a small overview of the situation... I have a node that will send of a synchronous query out to a service and then it will wait until it times out. However, hopefully before it times out, it should receive an asynchronous call.

How do I have my synchronous process grab an asynchronous response?

Thanks!

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
