If your wsdl uses maxOccurs and you want to turn off the writing of the xsi:type in the soap message you'll need to hack the axis source code - see COMMENT OUT THIS LOGIC below.

public class SerializationContext implements javax.xml.rpc.encoding.SerializationContext
