I have a web service application written in Java and I am trying to do an echo test with another computer to see if there is connectivity. My application sends out SOAP messages and everytime I do an echo test with another computer, I get a ClassCastException. What causes this error and how can I fix it?

Is this happening only when you try from a different computer? What happens if you try to call the web service from within the same machine which has the web service?

Also in which side do you get the exception, web service side or the calling client side?

I have only tried one computer.

If I try to call the web service from within the same machine which has the web service, then I do not get any errors. The echo test is successful.

The web service side.

OK. So your web service works when your client is in the same machine, but gives an error when the client is in a different machine.

I guess it would be better if you paste the stack trace of the exception.
