web services testing tools / frameworks

I am trying to evaluate web services tool.

I wanted to take different factors into consideration like:
- freeware/proprietary
- easiness to understand and use
- able to save the test cases/test suites
- capturing the cases/results
- re runnability of the cases
- is it codebase like junit or a tool
- required webservices/xml/database knowledge to use the tool
- rework/effort to change the webservice requests when the schema is updated/versioned

Your experience or knowledge on this topic will be helpful.

Thank you Bill,

I am actually looking for frameworks to test the web services layer. I wanted focus of the tool to validate the web service behavior so the user interface can be written in any language or framework.

Any article focusing on this will be more helpful.

At present i am evaluating few tools like Integra, SOAP UI and frameworks like XML Unit. I am trying to explore more of these tools and frameworks.
