I think Rob , Windows CE is Microsft's own o.s. on wintel. While J2me SDK ( obviously java based ) on windows & unix platforms. You can say that Palm , Symbian , Widows CE & J2ME are rivals. I hope this will be useful. Your Friendly Bartender Shailesh.

Is there something in Windows CE that prevents a VM from working properly?
Hello, I have asked MAGNET about this question and the answer has been that J2ME is not available for Windows CE. Another option is to use PersonalJava, but it isn't possible to employ J2ME with windows CE like operating System. Regards

I'm not sure of the designation of Personal Java, whether it is officially classified as J2ME or not. Certainly it's next version Personal Profile is part of J2ME. Arguably I'm splitting hairs here. There is nothing inherent in MIDP/WinCE which prevents MIDP from running on WinCE, just that no one has implemented it yet. Of course, because you can download the source code, you can do it yourself if you are so motivated, and the legal restrictions are not an issue for your needs. --Mark
