What kind of project are you looking for?
Here is one. When my wife and I were first married, she was a residence hall(dorm) director. After all the students have left at the end of spring semester, she would have to inspect the rooms for damage. If the student had damaged the room, that student was billed to have the room repaired. Back then she had to carry around a clipboard with all of the rooms listed along with the amount to charge a student for each item that was damaged, (ie $10 for a broken light fixture, $8 dollars for a broken towel rack, $25 to repaint a door) When she was finished with the inspection, she would give the list to a secretary who would enter the information into a computer.
At the time I was thinking that there must be a better way to do this. Have a handheld device with all of the room information loaded. as she would go through the rooms, she could use the stylus to click checkboxes to bill for damages.
At the end of the inspection, she could drop the hand held device into a cradle, and download the data into a pc. Next have an application on the pc convert the data into an XML or other portable format, and send it off to the central billing computer to generate bills for the student.
Hope this helps.
