i am new to J2me & tested a few applications on emulators.
we r planning to buy a pda . can someone tell me which pda to go for which provides maximum support for j2me. i am planning for 3com's PDA(8mb)

I think any Palm with 8MB and PalmOs 3.5 or higher would satisfy you. I don't know how much money you plan to spend on it, so i could recommend color screen, wireless, etc

If you plan to develop for an enterprise, definitely go for one which talks to a wireless LAN via IEEE 802.11 as you will find out soon that you will spend more time to get your J2ME application talk with an J2EE server.
