As i know, MIDlet is a resemblance of applets. Thus, if I have not mistaken, downloading a MIDlet and running it from the handphone will certainly slow down the processing of the handphone like how the applets slowing down the pc. Is this true ? Then, what are the advantages of MIDlet, besides providing offline capabilities, advance graphical user interface capabilities and also managing databases in terms of networking ?

I think the advantage of Midlet or J2ME is device independ. Same Midlet program can run on PALM and various moblie phone. The user interface will change automatic to fit the running device.

I don't really see why you are asking that. If you want Java capabilities on wireless devices you have to use MIDlets. The latter have GUI, network and storage capabilities.
what are the advantages of MIDlet in developing networking MIDlet ?
advantage over what?
What would you use instead?
