Database for j2me?

Hi,
i am looking for a database capable of running on a j2me device that supports synchronisation with back-end databases. This to implement a j2me application that can be used offline, and when online the data must be synced.
- Are there any databases capable in doing that
- Are there any OpenSource database for j2me available
or should i implement the synchronisation by myself

what j2me are you using - MIDP or personaljava?
MIDP does not have databases per se, but file-like RecordStores (RMS).
