Greetings everyone,
I have this book Wireless Programming with J2ME by Yu Feng and Jun Zhu and published by sams publishing. The website for the book is www.webyu.com. I have covered the firt four chapters of this book thoroughly and I have these questions bugging me. I would be very grateful if anyone who knows the book could tell me
(1)how good the book is.
(2)SOme of the material in the book seem to be overtaken by events. (a)How do I make up for this,i.e the version of the J2ME SDK the book talks about is version 1.0 and on Sun's site, I found version 2.0. also, the code worrior and the motoSDK too couldn't be downloaded the way the books says the could be.
Any useful suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It is one of the first books in pre-MIDP v1.0 days. That is very very old. The one I liked are:
Wireless Java: Developing with Java 2, Micro Edition (2nd Edition) By Jonathan Knudsen, Apress, 2003
It is the first MIDP v2.0 book. (Disclaimer 1: I did technical review for that book and will get 1% of the net profit if you buy one
Core J2ME by John Muchow
It has a good introduction to Palm development. But it is MIDP v1.0 only. (Disclaimer 2: I am writing a book for Prentice Hall -- the same publisher of the core book.)
For a (slightly out of dat) review of J2ME books published in 2002, check out my JavaWorld article

I agree with Michael, and I don't get any profit from you buying the book.
Unless Michael wants to share.

Wireless Java by Knudsen is definately my favorite book out there as well. Not to repeat what has already been said, but it was the book that got me going with J2ME and I've never needed to reference anything else.
