I don't think MIDP 2.0 will be the standard very soon. Looking at one of the most advanced cellphones the Sony Ericson P800, it doesn't support MIDP 2.0. I should focus on MIDP 1.0, but remember the MIDP 2.0. One never knows what the near future will bring us. Regards, Mark
Well, if MIDP v1.0 is sufficient for your app, then you should definitely use v1.0. But for many of us, MIDP v1.0 is such a compromised spec (hint: a major vendor in the MIDP expert group was not ready for "advanced features" in 2000 and pushed to take out some core features from the spec). I think most vendors will have MIDP v2.0 phones by the end of this year: http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1105-978294.html Also, Symbian OS has made a major commitment to future MIDP and related specifications (hint: They are moving from PersonalJava to MIDP! What about the Personal Profile?) If you cannot wait, there are MIDP v2.0 VMs already available on the PocketPC platform (Jeode). cheers Michael
