I'm designing a J2ME networked application. It uses socket to achieve internet connection. I'm trying to deploy and run my application on a physical device(cell phone). I have a couple of questions. 1. Do I need to buy a Java enabled cell phone and sign a service contract with a wireless carrier? You know it's only a master's project and what I need is to make a demo when doing presentation. It doesn't make sense to sign a whole year's contract with a service carrier. 2. What kind of data cable do I need to downlaod the application from PC to cell phone? Where can I buy it? I will very appreciate if you can answer my questions or give your recommendation on what I should do. Thanks and Best Regards Jiahui wang

1. You need a phone and a contract if you want to show it on a real device. But for demonstration, you just use the software emulator. 2. You do not need data cable. You need GPRS connection on your phone to download the java apps
