I am new to location based services. Can someone point me to sites/books available - for beginners- on how to devolop java programs using LBS?

what kind of program do you want in LBS ..??
I dont think you can find any readymade ..programs for LBS over the net ...

I write like Jean Paul Sarte but in Java....
