Ticker problem

hi I am developing one application where i need to use ticker..

I want to know is it good to use ticker??

Will all device support ticker??

If no is there any other option?

It was necessary to use ticker for my application as i used list to display list of item but had to show some data regarding those items...

So, both are necessary for me...

What to do??
