See this Sun SPOT site!

I find this kind of mind boggling - wireless sensor equiped java devices - developer kit for $550 - educational discounts for some countries. Running a bare JVM w no operating system. Yow - new toy - how can I convince my wife that this is a justified expense?

Be patient for a moment. Normally, I just skip over anything that charges money. Hard knocks over long times consistently repeat the lesson, but I looked anyway.

Your assessment is totally spot-on. ( ? )

I have been looking for some sort of Java OS to operate an RFID, and this could in fact be a realistic design proposal, it would hurt right now but I could get a development kit for an RFID vendor that has a client list of over 500 top-tier-respect clients and work to make an RFID standards compliant platform that realizes the long-awaited Java Operating System.

I have about a week coming up and this would be extremely profitable compared to listening to a postdoctoral scholar in the linguistics department, a java-only reader would be a great workaround for some consistently futile design challenges in commercial os.

Use the email on my profile page if you want to do a brief overview concepting workup on the possibility and do-ability of this rfid-reader concept: We will be swamped with competition by major houses who can already do many times deeper engineering.
