This entirely depends on the publisher. Once Tom has handed over the list it is out of our hands. Someone might be able to check on the status for you...
Won a book in march which arrived in about 2 weeks. Won another in may which had been underway for over a month now. All depends on shipping method used and where you are in relation to the publisher.
O'Reilly has worldwide presence so can probably get it to you quickly (they did for me) by just tagging it onto the next shipment to a regional distribution center and mailing it off from there.
APress is smaller and probably has to ship them worldwide from a single central location. If they use surface shipping for that delays are impossible to predict due to the way intercontinental surface shipping works (book is sent to harbour and sits in a warehouse until there's enough small cargo to fill an entire seacontainer for the area it's destined for, this can take anywhere from days to months, then has to wait more for a ship to go that way that has space on board which can take a while too). I once had to wait over 2 months for a shipment from Amazon to arrive, that was the last time I didn't choose airfreight for their orders.

I live in US, according to the above posts it looks like it is taking longer than usual(could be that publisher is out of the books or closed down)

I had got my book(JSTL) that is Prentice Hall about 5 weeks I do not know where the book ship from, but I know, I live in Hong Kong I think that if you live in somewhere without a good transportation system, you may require to get your book from the country side because the book may be threw directly from airplane to your home. The transportion system is good. The airport is also close and so is the sea. Siu., can you please check if the book landed in Hong kong.

I don't live in compuchea. I live in US. So, there is no mailing problem like the one you explained here.

Did anyone at the local postoffice suddenly retire to pursue a career in Java lately?

The request went out April 19th so everyone should have received the book by now. Have the other winners received the book?

Heh. A month is a small time when you're talking about sending a book from US to Finland using USPS

Finland I can understand. Americans aren't dumb, they just wait for Santa to empty that sled once a year and fill it up with all the packages for Finland to take back

Be patient, guys... I heard from Mr.Thomas that it might take up to three months, if I am living at the other side of the world from U.S...
Actually it's up to the publisher when and how they send books to the winners...
I am one of you guys... But be patient... Patience is the best practice for our lives...

hmm, got a phonecall from DHL this morning that they have a package from Springer Verlag New York office (which I think is APress, Springer Verlag handles their European sales...). Now to wait until tomorrow so they can drop it off at the office.

Dirk probably knows best what's the deal here, but I doubt that you'll ever receive Eclipse Live via mail since it's an ebook

Lasse,
Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery funny. I should receive 'something' though... like a link, correct? I was just wondering if three months was too long, but apparently not.

You most definitely should've gotten access to the online subscription somehow. I'll ask Dirk about it (assuming that you haven't heard of him lately?)

Lasse now that you plan to ask Dirk, and since the publisher happens to be the same , can you enquire about Spring Live as well I know that it has just been a couple of weeks since the promotion but just considering the topic (Spring) ,this wait is turning out to be really hard for me.
