Can the Thread Gurus suggest me a good Java Thread book please.

Well, since Henry Wong seems too modest to recommend his own book, Java Threads (from O'Reilly), I'll do it for him. I think he has a great outline. The matter is presented in a very organized way, and new topics are covered where they should be covered. If you want a good all-around Java book, a somewhat shorter introduction can be found in core Java (volume 2 - Advanced Features) from Horstmann and Cornell which also covers a diverse assortment of other topics including Remote Objects, Security, JDBC, and advanced Swing and AWT.

Java Thread Programming by Paul Hyde is a good introduction. Concurrent Programming in Java by Doug Lea is frequently mentioned, but it's a very heavy reading.

If all you want to do is to just understand the threading nature of the libraries that you are using, then the threading chapter in your general Java book should be okay for most cases.

However, if you want to develop in threads, you should pick up a dedicated threading book -- as threading is more than just APIs. You have to understand the theory as well.

And finally, being a co-writer of one of the dedicated thread books, probably makes my opinion tainted. After all, you can probably guess which book I would choose...
