Hello
I am not able to understand the concepts of API.
Are they important from the exam point of view? please let me know what part should be given more emphasis in API.
and how much are we supposed to learn and know as far as the exam is concerned?

It is common to have questions on Collection class, collection interface, list, map... etc etc. I think it is important to know what they are at least. Using them in code is another story. So, you don't really have the know them in code! Just know what is the different between them and when to use them in cases.
check this out.
