I've been getting some confusion as to the score needed for passing the SCJP. Is it 71 or 61% I called Sun, they said 71, but people have been saying they passed with scores of 67 etc. I really need this cleared up, I'm taking it tomorrow!

Thank you for the info, is there any reason why I would get mis-information from Sun, was the passing grade recently changed?

I took the test two weeks ago and the passing score was listed as 61% on my report.

It's 61%. 59 questions, 2 hours time. Sun changed the test format in Fall 2000, added much more of those time-consuming code exhibits, but lowered the passing score to keep things on a comparable level.

NB. Not that you should aim at passing just over the line

OK, so why is it important to know what the passing score is before you take the test? Do you intend on stopping as soon as you think you had enough right answers to pass?

If you want to be a Trainer Certified you need an extra 20% for the 61% score.
