When will the exams be updated? (1.4)

Hello everyone...great site!
Does anyone know if/when Sun will update the Programmer exam to reflect the fundamental changes made in Merlin?
Has anyone used the following book:
Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2
Study Guide (Exam 310-025) 2nd Edition.
Syngress - Osborne McGraw-Hill
ISBN: 0-07-213208-6
The exam thing on the CD doesn't work properly.
Does anyone know of major errors in the book? Did you find this book useful?
Thanks,
Patrick

i dont think sun will change the exam.
what fundemental changes were made in 1.4???
also, although Valentin may have a better knowledge than me, sun didnt change the exam in 1.3 or 1.2 too much either (except the event model), so i think they will stick to it.
btw, most of the objectives are related to the fundemntels of the language so it cant change too much.

As far as updates to the exam there have been none announced as of yet. I think the last thing that Sun was looking at was to make the test adaptive - I've not heard anything on that in quite a while though.
As for updating it to include some of the new stuff in 1.4, I don't think that'll happen for a while. After all, it is less than 2 weeks since it was released and it would be extremely unfair to start testng people on it too quickly. I would venture to guess you're looking at at least 9 months to a year before any of the new things would be added. Even then, from what I've read there really isn't that much in 1.4 that applies to the exam in the first place. Some new key words, some new constructs maybe but not a many things that are related to the objectives of the exam - unless they change them completely.
Over all, if your studying for the test right now just keep going with the current objectives and the current study materials - any changes are, most likely, months away - if not over a year.
hope that helps

Thanks. Yes, I was mainly referring to the new keyword assert and the nio package...

no servlet API in 1.4 either.
u need to d/l it seperatly, unless you are using j2ee.

what is this separate download ? i guess it would be some jar files that would contain the classes and interfaces etc needed. right ? which and where are these and where do we install or copy into which directory, assuming one has jdk (1..2) already installed ?

hi mark.
check the servlet formu where u posted a similar question. a lot of people answered u there.
basically u can either d/l the servlat.jar file from the http://java.sun.com or d/l the tomcat server which comes with that file included.
