I've read some bartenders/ranch hands etc. suggest that it was no surprise that AWT was cut from the new exam.....
but why is it no surprise?
What complaints/criticisms were levelled against the AWT section?
Do please let me know.

It amuses me if they have cut the AWT as I have been fielding questions for 2 years from people who were convinced that the exam was about to include Swing. The biggest area of Java development is server side and that involves Zero gui work, so that could be a reason.
I'll be surprised if they really remove I/O though.

I think they should leave AWT in because event modeling is such a good thing to understand. Removing I/O is crazy.
