Many people here have talked about taking a Beta version of the 1.4 exam before it became officially available. How do people find out about Beta exams, and how do you sign up for them? What kind of certificate do you get after taking one? Do they cost money?
Ron, From what I understand, Sun launched a beta exam back in April/May/June time frame. I believe that it's free. Unfortunatly, it was closed sometime in June. It was later when I found out about it too.
I also read that if you passed the beta, you got the SCJP! I think the betas were advertised on the normal sun education pages By the way, Ron, I had to take a look at my old copy of "X Window System" today. That book has given me lots of fun in the past, so it's nice opportunity to say a big "Thanks" to one of the authors. Cheers -Barry
The beta exams are also advertised to various User groups around the world. The group then announces the opportunity at a meeting, or contacts their members by email. If you are not a member of your local user group, I encourage you to seek one out. ------------------------------------------ Considering the Certified Java Programmer Exam? Ron, I noticed on the SunEd site that there is a beta of SCJD (Developer) 1.4 starting August. Maybe you can prise yourself into that! I can't because I didn't take the SCJP yet, too busy trying to answer some of the easy ones here. -Barry
