I took and passed the
SCJP certification two years ago, and I owe a debt of gratitude to JavaRanch for their great forums and "Rules Roundup Game".
I purchased two books to help me study -
Java 1.1 Study Guide and Java 2 By Example. At the time, Sun was offering both the 1.1 and 1.2 exams, and I was considering getting certified in 1.1 at the time, although I ended up taking and passing the 1.2 exam.
Now I see they're offering 1.2 and 1.4 exams side-by-side.
I am sorry I took so long to do this, but I decided to sell my collection of Java books, and a few others, in one big lot on eBay. Right now, the bid is $7.50 for 11 books, a pretty good deal.
