What can we expect from the short-answer questions on the SCJP version 1.4? Most of the books and mock exams that I have seen provide mainly multiple-choice questions.
What rough percentage of the exam is short answer?
What are these questions like? Can anyone provide some paraphrases?
Any tips or strategies for handling these questions?

I wouldn't spend a single additional brain cell worrying about fill-ins. The most you might get would be one question, and if you DO, it will be dead-obvious as to what kind of response you should give. Like, "What is 2 + 2"? And you would type in 4. Don't worry about things like whether or not you need quotes around it. But most likely, you won't have ANY fill-in questions.
