Hi All,
Great site, only found it a couple of days ago
I've been studying Java now for about 6 months and have been doing a home study course, my aim has always been to take a certification exam in it at some stage. So now although I've grasped the basics of Java (although I'm obviously still continuing to learn...!!) I'm undecided about which defined route to take for either exam.
Reading other postings I think I'd be better off studying hard for 1.2 as everything I've studied for and coded for seems to of been oriented towards 1.2 .
I've read that Sun are going to class the two certifications as two seperate exams but I can't help thinking though that Sun will pull the plug on the 1.2 certification at some stage ? Whats everyone elses thoughts here ?
Good work all, keep it up!!
Jon

This has probably been answered somewhere else, but I'm new (or rather, returning after a loooong absence) so I'm not sure what's here.
The answer is: Yes, we're pulling the plug on the 1.2 exam. Normally that happens when the new (1.4) exam has been translated into the various languages we need. So the old (1.2) exam stays up concurrent with the new (1.4) until 1.4 is available everywhere.
That should happen fairly soon. If you want the 1. 2 exam, better register quick. But I'd take the 1.4 exam, personally .
cheers,
Kathy

Jon,
You might want to read the following discussion:

You can also do a little search in this forum since this topic has been heavily discussed last summer.
