Hi,
I planed to take SCPJ for Java 2 platform 1.2 but now Sun have the exam for SCPJ for Java 2 platform 1.4. I compared their objectives and it seems that 1.4 has ASSERTIONS which is not in 1.2. Does anyone know where I can get study material about ASSERTIONS? Thank you in advance.

And don't forget to check the JavaRanch newsletter. We had two articles on assertions in the September issue.

Read through this

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/lang/assert.html

and you should be able to answer any question regarding assertion.

nutw,
I forgot to remind you that JavaRanch has a naming standard and your name isn't it. Please change your name to meet the JavaRanch requirements:

I just wanted to acknowledge that this document is exactly what was used for the exam questions. See EI is right; for the purposes of the exam, it has everything you need. Be especially careful about recognizing when assertions are "appropriate".
On the exam, there is a clear distinction between "legal" and "appropriate" on the assertion questions, so something that compiles and runs may still be considered an "inappropriate use" of assertions. For example, using assertions to validate arugments to a public method, is considered "inappropriate". But on a private method, it *is* appropriate." Think of it like Miss Manners for assertions. What is fine in private just isn't proper in public

cheers,
Kathy

You can test your understanding of the assertions topic using the assertions exam in section 2 of the Single Topic Exams at the URL contained in my signature. My questions tend to be more difficult than the real exam so please don't be discouraged if your score isn't high.
