Can anyone tell me whether it is neccessary to know the signature of methods in the Thread class for the purpose of the exam.
Thanks.

Someone creditable told me yesterday

You do need to know the signatures of the Thread constructors. You
also need to know which methods can take a timeout.
The only thread methods you really need are:
sleep()
join()
run()
start()
and of course, the object methods:
wait()
notify()
notifyAll()

How do you use the join() method in threads?

if u use t.join() in a main method then before executing the rest of the code it will wait for the thread t's run method to terminate...
