Hi All There are 2 versions of the Sun Certified programmer for java which are: a] Sun Certified Programmer For Java[tm]2 Platform 1.2 b] Sun Certified Programmer For Java 2 Platform 1.4 In the second category the IO package and AWT package are not included. I want to know if both the exams carry same weightage. Also, the java1.4 exam is a new one so is it accepted by the industry. Please comment on this as soon as possible. Thanx a lot
just an opinion - I've spent a few months preparing for the 1.2 exam. Oddly enough, I thought the I/O and AWT parts were harder to grasp and retain than any of the others! So upon reading many of the fine posts in this forum and reading all the suggestions, I've committed myself to taking the 1.4 exam. The post above from Valentin Crettaz provides outstanding information to help you and me.
All other things being equal, I would go for the 1.4 Exam. On your "weightage" question, you will not find IO or AWT questions in the 1.4 exam. You will in the 1.2 exam. The passing scores are differnt, but beta exam results have been evaluated by Sun so that the overall difficulty of the exam is consistent ( lower passing score does not imply easier to pass ). ------------------------------------- Considering the Certified Java Programmer Exam?
