Is knowing the advantages and constraints of Collections a requirement for SCJP 1.4?

Well, Arnold, one of the exam objectives regarding the collections framework states:
Make appropriate selection of collection classes/interfaces to suit specified behavior requirements.
So, based on that, I'd say you'd be well off to know some of the benefits and constraints of the different collections. Extreme details probably aren't important, but knowing the basic structure of the collections would definitely be a good idea.
