Package and Classpath

hello all,
I am trying the packages and class path. I have a folder javaprogs and in that I have the java files. but I created a package by name package1 in javaprogs and put some files there.
and my java files in javaprog folder I use import.package1.* and it gives me error.
how can I use the files from the package folder.
Please help!

avaprogs should be the entry point to classpath
