Is it worth taking scjp1.4 upgrade exam? I took the scjp1.2 exam about three years back. It was extremely useful as I did'nt know Java then ( So there was lot of learning).
Since then I have been working on Java. Has anybody here gone for the upgrade and found it to be useful? .Looks like other than assertions nothing much has crept in. Any inputs w'd be helpful.
thanks!.

Hi karthik
Well I guess that you might just not be elligible for an upgrade exam because the validity of the SCJP certificate is 2 years. Assertions is a new topic and along with that you have a few changes to the collactions. As far as the difference between the upgrade and the normal exam is concerned I guess only the price is different.

Hello,
I am also thinking of going for the new SCJP 1.4 exam. Can you please tell me what's the cost as of now in India?

Hi Ashish
Upgrade is $100 so probabaly is Rs.5000.
Actual(non-upgrade) exam is $150 and is available for Rs. 7500.

Thanks Anupam! Now does that mean that am not allowed to indicate that am scjp2 certified on my resume? I did use the logo on my resume last time around..looks like am not entitled to anymore.
Anyways, perused the 1.4 exam content and nice to note that there are no sections on Swing/AWT/IO! A welcome relief!.

Hi Karthik
Yes I guess so. But specifying that you were an SCJP or writing ex-SCJP should do, but I guess that you won't be able to use the logo anymore unless ofcourse you re-certify.
