I bought The Complete Java 2 Certification, Third Edition. It covers the programmer and the developer exam.
Does anyone know if the "Kathy and Bert" book everyone keeps mentioning is better?
I bought an older book for $10, as well. Java 2 Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2, Second Edition by Syngress/Osbourne. I think the K&B book is the third edition to this book.
Just wondering if it would be worth buying the K&B book.

Hi Brian
Are you reffering to the Robert, Heller and Ernest book? If so, I also have that book and found the Sierra and Bates book quites useful. I would highly recommend that.

Brian-
Kathy and Bert's book is EXCELLENT, and I fully recommend it. Having said that -- I think you're on the verge of becoming "Booked out" The Sybex book is also a great resource. I haven't read it myself, but I know there have been a lot of people who have used it and successfully passed the exam. (I myself used the Mughal & Rasmussen when I took the exam, before Kathy and Bert's book came out). Unless you have an extra $40 to spend (then by all means buy Kathy&Bert's book). I think you'll be just fine with the book you have. But I wouldn't recommend reading ALL the books you have.
Read one book. Take some mock exams. From the mock's you'll be able to find out which topics you need more practice on. Then go back to your original book, or maybe a different book (just to get a different perspective) and review those topics you need help with.
Oh -- and of course come back to the JavaRanch pretty often -- you can ask any questions you like here. (One thing I found REALLY helpful was ANSWERING questions -- you know you really understand a topic if you can explain it to someone else).

Thanks everyone! I'll probably stick with the resources I have and save the $$ this time.

Hi Brian
Now that you have decided to with the books you have I would suggest that you go through this thread if you haven't already gone through. Yes, as Jessica said do as many mocks as you can.
