Hello friends, I would like to know about the good books for preparation on SCJP 1.4 (on hand exp). I know K& B is a Nice One.Apart from this some of my friends where saying that Threads are bit too tricky in the SCJP exam, which you require a thorough knowledge and deep understanding. SO PLZ HELP..........with any good books other than K&B. Thanks Vivek Nidhi
I started of with 'A Programmer's Guide to Java (tm) Certification' by Rolf Rasmussen - it's very complete if you're looking for more info / greater depth. That said I found it a hard read - when I later came across K&B was soooo much clearer. The Exam cram book by Bill Brogden is spot on for revision in the week or two before the exam. (Now I've passed the exam, it the Rasmussen book that I turn to if I need to look something up). Good luck, Louise
I was too mean to go out and buy a new book for the exam, but I already had O'Reiily's 'Java in a Nutshell' and I found this a really good concise reference. It probably won't teach you Java from scratch, but I still use it as a reference after passing the exam.

I used the K & B, plus read the thread tutorials from Sun's freely downloadable Java Tutorial, plus The Java Programming Language. It was all I needed. Well, that and some experience and a bit of luck...
