Hi everyone,
I am new to this site but not new to scjp exam. Unfortunately, I failed on the first try for scjp 1.2. I know the reason is that I only reviewed the exam book without doing any real practice.(I didn't take any single mock exam/questions)Now, I Really want to wrap up and retake the exam.
need ur help on thest two questions:
1. Do i need to pass scjp1.2 before taking scjp1.4? (can I take scjp1.4 this time?)
2. Due to some reason, I have to take the exam soon. I have already reviewed exam books, I know there is plenty of practice exams but I only have time to take some of them. can anyone recommend mock exams which are really good and must-do (difficult level is similar to real exam)from your own experience?

Hi,
I don't think there is any need whatsoever that one should re-appear for SCJP1.2 to take SCJP1.4 as long as you are comfortable with the new objectives listed for SCJP1.4. In the first place forget bad xperience and start afresh..so forget you have even attempted 1.2 .
Regarding the mock exams....u have come to the right place..JavaRanch mocks are indispensible source for information on this. You come across many links to mock exams. Not but the least Whizlabs is also good..their objective wise test are good.
All the best..
Hope this answers your doubts..

"redshirt me"-
Couple things....
1st thing:
Welcome to the JavaRanch! We like to keep a nice professional lookin' image... (we don't want anyone to show up the Moose). So, can you please adjust your displayed name to match the JavaRanch Naming Policy? Basically it should be a believeable and not obviously fictitious first and last name.
You can change it here.
2nd thing:
You can find a whole list of mock exams here in our FAQ.
the most popular free exams are Marcus Green's and Dan Chisholm's
Good Luck! and again welcome to the JavaRanch!

My understanding is that Sun recognizes the different releases as separate certifications. In other words, you can have a 1.2 certification, but not be certified in 1.4 (of course). The reverse is also true, where you can have a 1.4 certification but not a 1.2. Whether you need one or the other probably depends on your objectives and what your employer wants. I personally prefer the 'latest and greatest' approach, but many would take point that understanding 'older' (even by a few months) technology has its place - for example, if you will be working with applets much. If you have to stay compatible with older browsers, then that might change what you'll study. Just my thoughts!
