HI, I am new to java and have started studying K&B just few weeks back.It seems to be a nice book. Is K&B book enough to prepare for the exam or do I need to go through any other book. Any idea how long does it take to prepare. Thanks, Shamita
That book should be enough to get you ready for the exam. I would also suggest some of the excellent online resources that are out there - including various mock exams and sites like JavaRanch. You can find information about these things in the FAQ (there's a link at the top of this forum). How long it will take to prepare is really difficult to say. If you're already a fluent Java programmer, you might be ready in a couple weeks. If you're new to Java but have good programming fundamentals in other languages, you might be ready in a month or two. If you're brand new to programming, it's going to take a bit longer - of course, if you're new to programming, I don't recommend certification as the way to "learn to program," but that's another topic. In addition, how long it will take you is dependent upon how much time you can put in every day and how well you want to score on the exam. To make a long story short, it's hard to say how long it'll take without knowing more specifics about you.
