hi i am a engineering student who wants to learn java
i have no prior xperience in java
where should i start my prepparation
any one from mumbai do tel me where are the coachings available

If you have no experience in Java, I wouldn't start learning Java by trying to become a certified programmer. Rather, I'd pick up some "Intro" books, such as Head First java, and become acclaimated to Java. Then, if you like it and want to delve into the intricacies of Java, you might want to look into certification.
It has been my experience that studying for the certification is not a good way to learn to program in Java.
The book I mentioned earlier is just one of many texts out there, but I think it is an excellent guide for someone that wants to learn Java. You can find more books and reviews in our Bunkhouse Section.

hey guys thanx for ur replies but i have started reading the complete reference book by herbert shieldt and i am beginning to like java..
so i wanted to go for certification in java
i am practicing it also on myself only
do tel me whether i need to join a coaching centre to prepare for java certification
