can anybody tell me what method should i use to always get to the right answer?

I don't understand what your question is. This code compiles and runs just fine. what are you expecting to see?

sorry i didn't explain, all i want to know is how to find the value of k , i tried few times and i am always afraid i'll get confused with nested while loop inside do loop, if you know what i mean...
