Sow,

I'm glad you found us. Being new to the site, now is a perfect time for you to start exploring some of the excellent resources available here at the Ranch.

For example, you might guess that you're not the first one to ask such questions - try using the Search tool (above) to instantly scour this forum for loads of useful information.

Also, if you're after a good book, try checking out The Bunkhouse, where we have loads of reviews on the books that are out there waiting for you.

There are also some great links right at the top of this forum, including an FAQ (which sounds like it would be right up your alley) and the SCJP TipLine.

Don't miss out on the JavaRanch Journal, either. There should be a new edition out shortly.

I hope you enjoy it here.

Don't waste too much time on this certification.

Just go through one of the preferred books and practise. When you feel comfortable take couple of mock tests & when u start hitting around 80% or above, go for the actual test.

Don't sweat too much of your valuable time on any certification. You just need to be certified, the score does not matter(unless u are a perfectionist)
