I've taken a handful of mock exams, including Marcus and a couple of
Dan Chisholms, but haven't seen these topics. Are they also fair game to
be tested. Topics not seen:

RTTI/Reflection
Serialization

Also, what is the physical test format? Can you only see one question at a time? Can you go back to a prior question? Finally, what's the correlation between the actual test and Dan Chisholm's?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben, I think the answer lies in when these Mock Exams were written and what version of the SJCP test was in existence at that time. The objectives of the exam has ebbed and flowed with each upgrade, so some objectives were dropped, some were added. When I took it the first time AWT was a part of the exam, and it is definitely no more a part of the exam.

The physical test is on a computer, you see only one question, but you can always go back, you can even mark a question for review much later. There are multiple choice questions and drag and drop questions. Note, that when reviewing a drag and drop question, your original answers will be removed.

Hope that helps.

Neither of those topics have ever been on a public release of the Sun Certified Java Programmers exam, which probably explains why mock exams do not cover them. Dan and I make it clear which version of the exam our mock exam questions are aimed at. Dan's exams are probably a little harder than the real thing, and he includes more options per question than the real thing. However they are an excellent resource for study and include very detaild explanations of why the answers are correct. You can purchase his exams in the form of a real printed book.

You could of course simply have checked the product details page for the exam and found out that these topics aren't part of the exam...

Other things not covered are RMI, the XML parser, CORBA, Swing, NIO, IO (for the 1.4 exam), and AWT (for the 1.4 exam).

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
