The period is too short.... I heard about the exam on 20-Jan ... I registered on 13-Feb ... I think I will fail ...because there is much more topics I need to study or at lease to read about :still just 2 days ...WORK + Collage make it worse 22 days is not enough for some one how wanted to study all the materials for SCJP 1.4 and new features for 0.5 I'm prying that sun will be extending the exam
Better to light one small CANDLE than to curse the Darkness
Sun won't extend the exam just because someone doesn't have enough time to master Java enough to pass it... You might as well complain that 2 hours isn't enough for the 1.4 exam so you want 3 or 4. You're not going to get that either.
I think the beta exam is generally aimed at people who are already familiar with the topics. People who don't have enough time to get up to speed aren't expected to pay $50 for the privilege of sitting the exam.
I have decided to extend the beta worldwide! The beta will now end on March 6 (final date).
This will give you time to prepare for the exam and Pass
I am still working with Prometric to have all their worldwide testing centers notified in a timely manner. Please be patient, while this happens, since this announcement has to be communicated to all Prometric centers in all Time Zones.
Please let me know if you have any questions, send me a direct email to evelyn.cartagena@sun.com
Thank you.

But just one doubt , I registered myself for exam on 12 Feb , so how can I extend my date , although here it is 1 AM so I will call my prometric centre tomorrow . But please reply , how can I do this ...
I just resceduled the exam to 5-Mar-2005. Earn more time to study on the subject.
Thanks.

Again, just a remind, always not schedule an exam to the day that very close to the end of beta exam. Otherwise, when there is problem, you wont have enough time to solve it.

I was not able to. They have refused to postpone. I met with accident on 15th Jan , so was not able to read anything. I have just recovered .
After I read this thread I was very happy but..

In my case , I called them & they agrred to extend date without any arguments but with one warning is that if sun will not extend then you will loose everything ..... Actually they don't know anything about exam ... whatever I am saying they are agreeing ....
Is it sure that exam date has extended ???
Is it available on Sun site ???
please confirm this ....
thanks a lot .

Might be you have violated the 24 hours requirement that, you need to reschedule the exam 24 hours before the exam time.
I just took the test (beta) earlier today. It was very hard. The hardest part is getting thru all the questions in time (yes, 5 hours is alot but goes by fast).. I had to fill in guess answers for the last 10 or so questions
There were some questions that were just too hard to figure out what the question was. There is alot of variety in the questions to the point where it can be tiring trying to figure out what to do. But the questions are long and tricky.
Overall, the experience was well worth it (even if I didnt pass). I have learned some new Java and learned some things just reading thru all the test questions. But, lesson to be learned is you need to try stuff out with the compiler. more later gtg.

Oh great what a relief!
Now I find myself silly. Since the official launching is on June (I think), why in the world did I pass the 1.4 last week? I might as well wait for 1.5. Waste of money! LOL!
It's hard to listen that news. That means i need to wait till Apr.
I am planning to write SCBCD i don't know when that will happen
Dont worried, you can start prepare SCBCD now, as it is of no difference if you know, in case, you failed the beta exam 1 month earlier.

That's different I think. SCJP 1.4 is different from SCJP Tiger, also, as Tiger might still not the majority of the Java world, it might less important now. Anyway, you will find what you paid is worth.

Around mid-April.

Still, I dont think this is a problem because you can still 1st take SCBCD. As you are not fulfill the certify requirements, you will not get the certificate. However, once you fulfill SCJP, you can then get back the SCBCD certificate.

The exam date is extended just when Ive did the test... Man, I think this is not fair...
I dont think this is a problem in fact, because you will only go to the exam when you feel you are ready. If not, even the beta period is going to be ended, you will cancel the test. But as you did not, that means you are confident to the test.

Not exactly... I did the test earlier because it wasnt possible to schedule my test later, the free slots in prometric were filled very quick... But its ok, I must work in finish my SCEA until April and now I can (re)start my work... Good luck for all!

The test is less hard as I expected, and thus, I wish I can get a better score on it.
