Hi,

I'm trying to get some expert advice on how to interprete the self-test results I'm getting in th K&B book.
What I do is read the chapter twice, take some notes, read the two minute drills, and then take the test.
I'm getting results of around 50% right. Is it normal to get these results? I haven't done any of the mock exams yet, I'm just trying to finish the book first.
Any feedback?
Thanks,

Rachel

Aim for 85-100% on K&B mocks, 50% is low.
You will find that after you read the whole book and go back to some of these mocks, the score will be even lower.
Re-read the chapter, understand each sentence, only then take the mock for that chapter.

rachel,
You are on the right track. On completion of
each chapter go for the test. Try not to look up
the answer, go to the text again until you find out
why you choice was wrong and then you can now check
the explanations of the answers.
Some people go through the book an many times as
possible. For, i think i went through it about 4 or 5
times b4 the exams.Mind you always try and discover
new things each time you go through.
All the best.

Rachel,
I did the tests at chapter end as "open book" and made sure I got 100%. I felt this was a better way of reinforcing the learning than just guessing if I did not know the answer for sure.

I used one of the real mock exams closed book to determine my readiness for the real exam.

Good luck!

rachel,
thats normal. you learn as much from the questions in self test as you do from your lessons. important this is review your answerirrespective of them being right or not.

rachel,

It sounds to me like you're going about it the right way. I wouldn't worry too much about your scores the first time through the book. You're not ready to take the exam yet, but stick with it. This material can be a lot more difficult than it seems. Eventually it all comes together and one day you wake up and discover you're a human compiler.

btw, how well are you doing on the rules roundup game?

cheers,
ed

Thank you everyone for your responses. It really encourages me to keep my concentration. I'm on chapter 8 right now, and can't wait to finish with the book!

Ed,

I'm not sure about that games round-up thing. What is that? Am I missing something important?

Thanks,

Rachel

Wow! sounds like a cool-scary game ... I think I'll wait till I finish reading the book first, and go over my notes again.. and then, I'll play.
Thanks!

Rachel,
I highly recommend the Rules Roundup Game. It's a really good drill on stuff you're gonna need to know cold for the exam. Don't get discouraged if you don't do well at first. Ropin' them dogies is tougher than it looks!

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
