Just wanted to let those know who haven't heard that the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 5.0 (310-055), will be live on April 18.

Cheers,

That's a good news.

And beta takers are going to get the result soon.

Thanks for the heads up, Jeff. How did you hear about it? I can't seem to find any info on Sun's web site about the SCJP 5.0 beta or otherwise. Are there any links to read up on it?

Thanks in advance.

Might be this is an email to those who subscribed with SUN's latest news.

Or this might be an email that sent from Prometric for those SCJP Tiger Beta takers.

The Sun education newsletter for Europe doesn't mention anything about the 1.5 SCJP.
It does mention a seminar about 1.5 to be held early May.

I sent an e-mail into Sun Education on the date for the new test and they responded with April 18th. The email address is registrars@sun.com.

A bit disappointed that the passing score is 59% only.

Thanks.

To me. 59% is high enough.

It only means plenty of people are not yet read to develop Java Application using Tiger.

However, for SCDJWS, even the passing rate is 68%, there were still plenty of people passed in the beta exams.

Since SCDJWS should be harded than SCJP, and thus, SCJP should have a higher passing rate.

Please do a simple search. There are lots of related posts.

In short, you will found the exam format has been changed from MC questions only, to MC questions with Drag and Drop questions.

It required you to know some of the important new features, like enhanced for-loop, Generics, autoboxing, PriorityQueue, etc. It also requires you to have a deep understanding in OO concepts.

Also, you can expect the level of difficulty from the exam time. You have 175 mins for 72 questions, which means that 2.5 mins per question.
