Hi shameena!
Thre are two exams SCJP1.4 and SCJP 5 decide which you want to write. Rest all will all go like this...
1. Buy/Purchase the Exam voucher from your nearest Authorised Sun Education Center (ASEC) or Prometric Center. You may locate an ASEC at
Exam voucher is just a paper-slip, and no preparation material.

2. Voucher will be valid for one year. Within that one year ,you can write the exam at any day at any Prometric Center you wish. But you will have to inform the prometric center in advance so that they can arrange a slot for you. To check your nearest prometric center you can log on to.
or and then click "Locate a site" link

3. Decide a day and register your exam date at the prometric center, you will be asked to produce your Exam Coupon there.

4. On the day of the test go and attend the test online. Then and there you will get your results.
5. If you pass the exam you will be issued a temporary certificate from the center, which u can use until the Original Certificate from Sun Microsystems arrives.

Hope this does the needful.

seems you started to prepare and plan for java certificaton welcome to this wonderful place you would get lots and lots of information and guidelines. I am working in java in saudi am planing to give the exam next month but the hectic work schedule is always giving me less time to prepare.

Any way Now have a systematic approach and plan for the study and best of luck for the exam.
