hi,

sandeep io and awt both are not part of 1.4

How is the SCJP 1.4 exam different from the SCJP 1.2?
Answer: Provided by Valentin Crettaz

Exam objectives: AWT and IO have been dropped. Assertions and Wrapper classes have been added. Deeper understanding of the Collections Framework is required (hashCode and equals).

from http://www.javaranch.com/certfaq.jsp#q9

in my view (what i have experienced)
Mughal is good very book but if you are relatively new study Kathy Sierra first and then Mughal as it good for deeper understanding.

This is in my view so do what you feel right and what you think is right.

After you study a chapter you can go to danchisholm.net/july21/topic/index.html it includes chapter wise mock test but it is tough so dont worry if in starting u get few wrong (u will learn new things)

there are few more topic wise tests listed on http://www.javaranch.com/certfaq.jsp#q9

JQPlus (Trial version)

hope this helps BYE>

Hi guys,

Itz gr8 seeing u ppl forming a group for SCJP preparation.Gud effort!!.I've completed SCJP1.4 couple of months back.Regarding books I would suggest K&B book(the best!!)for this exam which is more than sufficient. Those who have Khalid mughal also need not regret. That is also very gud book i have read.First try to complete K&B and then if time permits go for Khalid mughal.Once u've completed reading try with various mock exams.Thatz it.u r almost done!.

Keep up ur spirit guys!!!

All the best(to each of u)!!!

Regards,
Priya.

Hi,
Thanks priya for your valuable advice.I belong to Chennai and presently working in Hyderabad.I bought khalid mughal book and started preparing it.The bad thing is the CD was broken.I could not replace it from the shop.I can get the mock exam of khalid mughal on the net (which was there in the Book itself). But the other two mock exams in the CD is really worthful. Can you please help me(if you can!) in getting any soft copy of that CD.My Email Id is satheesh_79@rediffmail.com
Thanks in advance,
Regards

I recently gave mock exams from JQ Plus V4 and some at jdiscuss (just 30 question tests), also at marcus green but question set is very limited I guess.

Hi Dharmesh,

K&B stands for Kathy sierra & Bert bates. They've written Java certification exam study guide which would really help a lot to get thru the exam.

Regards,
Priya.

Hi all
I am planning to do SCJP certification, So I would be really glad if someone could tell me how I should plan out my preparation . Regarding books can I straight away start with certification books or should I have a glance of Core Java or Complete reference books. I am in your advice and help ....so would be really happy to get some replies on this...

Warm Regards
Vishwanath
