This week's book giveaway is in the OCAJP 8 forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide and have Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori on-line! See this thread for details.
I saw this question posted couple of times and found many different answers. As most of the guys here in this Forum window cleared the SCJP, can somebody plz give their inputs?
I have good working experience in Java/J2EE projects but again working on projects and opting for certification; both are different thing.
Can somebody tell me how much daily efforts one can/should spend apart from the office Hrs? How long will it take for hard core preparation to obtain good score? What are all good books/resources one should refer?
I hope you guys dont mind guiding me inspite of such repetative question.
I appreciate your reply. I did search the forum and came to know its repetive. As you might have observed my post closely; I mentioned that there are many different answers to those queries. I got lost in that jungle.
Anyways, if I could get some useful hints regarding duration (hrs/day) one should spend on driving the SCJP till its destination that would be great.
If you know core java basics than start with Kathy's book for scjp.
It depends on you, like how much preparation you need, just make sure you learn and understand things properly.
give mock exams to find out how you are doing danchisholm.net has topic wise mock exams although it is tougher than real (that is what I have heard). you can find topic wise test at other place also just keep on searching.
For books and such, check out the FAQ link at the top of the forum here.
Ther reason why you get so many answers is because it is a subjective subject.
It really depends on the person, their experience, how they learn and how good their memories are. Only you can prevent forest fires. I mean only you can determine when you are ready to take the test. Using Mocks and the scores you get and what you are comfortable with will let you knwo when it is time to go.
