I am a new comer to this forum. I have read some of the threads here and feel this is a good starting point. I haven't seen many responses of recent dates. I am going to prepare for the SCJP cert and I need some adice on how to start,. I have 1 year of java from college work and I am currently working in Java (core java though). I would appreciate some advice on best SCJP preparation books, which I plan to buy. I need some advice on tips and on if any topics are ommitted from the current SCJP curriculum. Where can I get the curriculum for the SCJP? How long, on average, does one need to prepare comfortably enough and write the exam??? I need as much help as I can get.

Thanks a lot...

Hi Palu -

The best book for SCJP1.4 is the book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. Its a little light on Collections and Threads but otherwise covers everything well.

I'm not sure if they have released a 1.5 version yet - if not then its probably on the way soon.

Other than that the reading the posts in this forum are really good - and there are lots of mock exams at http://www.javaranch.com/mock.jsp

Might pay to check out Marcus Green's website as well....

Hope that helps.

Hi All

I wanted to know which K & Bbook to buy in INDIA for SCJP1.4 because there seem to be different books for it
like this is what original K & Bbook available in outside India looks like.

But in India there seem to be book with this name

or from earlier posts

All In One Java 2 Sun Certified Programmer And Developer For Java 2

by Sierra, Kathy;
ISBN: 817722316X
Publisher: IDG India

So please guide me in buying which book for SCJP1.4?

All these are the same book. The ISBN of the Indian Edition is the same on both the indian sites. And the Amazon edition is the US edition.

Thanks Michael Rocha
but what I really want to also know is that Is The US edition with same publisher's i.e. Publisher: McGraw-Hill Osborne Media
available in India or not
All In One Java 2 Sun Certified Programmer And Developer For Java 2
contains same content as US edition

I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
