I'm a former MCSE (nt 4.0) (no laughing). I spent a good portion of my professional career as a sysadmin (sun boxen, worked on some big machines) and now I'm a full time java programmer. In between life and work I'm studying a bit and plan on taking a shot at the cert.

My general question(s) are:

In the industry how seriously is the Sun certification percieved?
Does it help on the HR side of things job wise?
What are some of the motivations behind the effort to become certified?

I hope this as appropriate topic in this forum, I'm just sort of fishing for some motivation and to see what folks have experienced.

Thanks!

Hii morgan...
Got admired by ur profession and the way u approach the new things.
Great.

As far as this discussion forums and some other articles,i came to know that certfied people gets are paid higher than the un-certified people.
MoreOver,For SUN certifications there is some standard in today's IT market.

Better get the SCJP Book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates.

Read Page by Page,Line by Line and feel the essence of JAVA and also get Certified.

Congrats....
ALL THE BEST.
