SCJP 1.4 or SCJP 1.5?

hello Friends

I am totally new to this site.

I am prepareing for scjp exam 7 till now i was doing scjp1.4 from khalid mughal.But one of friends advised me to give SCJP1.5.So now confused.

Considering for job as well what should i do?

Plz tell me.
Also if anyone at the middle stage of preparation u can contact me so that we can discuss.

There is not much diffrence between 1.4 and 1.5. if u r prpare for 1.4 then by slitly diffrence study U can prpare your self for 1.5. As far as job is concerned bothe will get same preference. But first complitre khalid mugal blindly.

If I was in your place, I would make efforts to pass the SCJP 5 instead of SCJP 1.4

In opposite to what Arun said, there are a LOT of differences between Java 1.4 and 1.5

For example, you can consider as deep differences from Java 1.4 to 1.5 :

Covariant Returns,
Wrapper classes (Autoboxing and unboxing),
Enhanced For Loop,
StringBuilder vs StringBuffer,
Collections and Generics,
API contents,

As well as many other topics.

Both exams (1.4 and 1.5) are VERY different, for example, Java IO API Contents is charged in the new exam but shift and bitwise operators are not. In opposite to what is charged in the SCJP 1.4 exam.

So, in face of all deep changes that follow the new Java version and SCJP exam, I think that would be a good challenge for you try to pass the new one.

I guess u sud go for 1.5 exam,as this is the latest n a bit more things r included.m too preparing for it.n as u hav gone thru 1.4 prp u'll b having sm topics to go for.And its always better to go for the one on which there r less persons.u'll hav ur own recognition for it.

Hi Im new in this, but im taking 1.4 and then 1.5, from what i have been told, its easier the 1.4 than 1.5. So ive decided to take 1.4 and then get the 1.5, if you pass the 1.4, when you take the upgrade exam to 1.5 there are less questions and you only need to focus on the new things on 1.5.
