Can anyone explain to me why the cost of SCJP over here in the UK is so high? It's $150 for SCJP in the US, but for some reason it is 150 over here, roughly $277. I know our taxes are high, but this is ridiculous. I thought that was bad, but the SCJA is worse, $100 US or 150! From the sun website it says that US vouchers can only be used in the US too.
Other company certifications fare better, ie Microsoft $125->88.
I had hoped to do SCJP just on a whim, to confirm my knowledge of java more officially. But at this price when other folks get it much cheaper?

Hi David
Where did you get these prices from?
I've recently done the SCJP 1.5 exam and it cost me 117.50 through the SUN website.

same everywhere. Cost on the continent is the same in in Euros (ex tax) to the cost in dollars in the US (tax excempt).
IOW it's about 40% more expensive here than in the US.

Do you think we can buy ticket at the US or somewhere else? I mean : buy from people there and re-sell to us? arno
i took the SCJP 1.4 last year (also in Belgium), price was 140 euro (excl VAT).
now the price for a full SCJP exam is 210 euro (excl VAT), so it's 70 euro more just to be "lucky" to answer some (buggy) drag-and-drop questions (your answers may disappear when you are reviewing such questions)
i think the cheapest solution is to have your company pay for it :-)
